My food journey.

As a child my family were reliant on free and reduced lunch. We often received help from food banks and churches. I lived off of peanut butter and jelly. To my surprise I am allergic to it now.  (I found out I had food allergies in 2020…food recipes and more will come)

After separating from the military, I received WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) for a short period of time. Those checks/coupons whatever you honestly want to call them provided our family with much needed groceries.

Fast-forward many years...

*If you are reading this currently receiving some sort of help...life does get better. Hang in there...after the rain comes a rainbow. You got this!*

Our Girl Scout troop raised over 100 pounds of food between October 2020- January 2021. In collaboration with our service unit. From October 1- November 1 2020. We worked with other troops and community members and collected over 98 pounds of food and raised $529! That equated to over 2,644 meals provided to our local community.

Food drives and school supply drives will always have a special place in my heart. Every cookie season we donate boxes of cookies generously donated by our community.

If you like to find out ways to host your own food drive or other ways to help. Read the next blog article.
