Foodie Friday: Thoughts Over Coffee and a Movie Called Ratatouille.
My youngest thoroughly enjoys Disney movies and thankfully more than half of us enjoys Ratatouille....the food and the movie.
I love cooking and one day my 6 year old asks "Mom can you make us Ratatouille?"
The idea of using a mandolin scares the dickens out of me. My grandmother has seriously cut herself several times on them. And it's not something I want to own in my house. Especially if I am only going to have it for one dish. We have entered the I want to hang out in the cabinet again stage. It adds more anxiety to my already being of anxiety.
So much stress. So I looked for other ways to cook this dish.
I found this website by Cookie and Kate and decided to try my luck.
As Gusteau said "Anyone can cook". It's fitting right? In the realm of cooking French cuisine seems the most intimidating to me.
I can share the Coq au Vin story another day.
It's not often I can find a recipe most of the family enjoys. But the recipe by Cookie and Kate totally wins in our household.
And no sliced fingers from a mandolin. Score!
If you want to watch a Disney movie with an unlikely duo, a rat and garbage boy in the city of food and love... I am talking Paris, France. Ratatouille, is a good movie for the entire family.
