Presidents Hall of Fame: Clermont, Florida
I have ALWAYS wanted to go to the Presidents Hall of Fame located in Clermont, Florida. I have attempted to visit 2 times prior and I have always missed it. I made a promise to myself, and I told my husband I was visiting the Presidents Hall of Fame before I returned home from visiting my grandparents. I have no idea when I would be back in the area, and I didn’t want to miss it. To be honest, I don’t think my heart could handle saying goodbye and not living the life my grandpa would have wanted me to.
Plans shifted, it honestly was a chaotic mess I didn’t understand, and you can read about that here (link soon to come).
But I called ahead, made sure I was in the window of the hours of operation. Then, when I had a moment, a moment with the hope of the odds being in my favor. A third time is the charm, right?
I was able to experience something on my long overdue bucket list. Over 10 years in the making. I was finally here. I was able to enjoy the moment with my youngest and one of my friends from high school. It was perfect.
You see, despite the size, and my friend had warned me it wouldn’t take long to visit the entire thing. I was in some sort of bliss on Earth. This is the place where I could see life size wax figures of presidents, a GIGANTIC replica of the White House but it gets updated as the presidents do, this is where President Lincoln’s finger went missing during my high school years and returned with a painted fingernail. Who did it? I have no clue and the world may never know. But small-town girl of the time and this was a big moment.
This is a history in an adorable space. I mean who doesn’t want to visit the National Monuments in their “home state?” Lincoln Memorial, Mount Rushmore and the White House all located in your backyard of “sunny” Florida.
Granted, I have visited all these places in my adult years, and nothing beats the original. But seeing the “small one” in Florida is fun.
My son, played with “lemon ice water over dinner”, I was able to absorb all the knowledge in the building that he would allow me, and I was able to do so with a dear friend of mine. I even have a magnet!
